The Fiat 124 Spider is a two-door roadster sold by the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) division of Stellantis from 2017 to 2020. It was manufactured by Mazda for FCA and based on the design of the MX-5 Miata. The 124 Spider convertible is a revival of the Fiat Sports Spider, Fiat’s popular sports car from the 1960s through the 1980s.
In 2017, the Fiat 124 Spider was introduced with three variants. These included Classica, Lusso, and Abarth. Classica and Lusso models came with a 1.4-liter intercooled turbo I4 engine that produced 160 hp and 184 pound-feet of torque. The Abarth offered slightly better performance, with 164 hp. Rated fuel economy was a good 30 mpg combined. Standard inclusions were 16-inch silver aluminum wheels, a 3-inch display with radio and Bluetooth, six-speaker audio, and a 12-volt power outlet.
With the 2020 Fiat 124 Spider, a limited-edition Urbana model was offered along with the three original trims. The Urbana was priced between the base Classica and the higher Lusso trim. With the 124 Spider Lusso convertible, you get 17-inch premium silver aluminum wheels and LED brake lights. Other inclusions are a 7-inch entertainment system, six-speaker audio, leather steering wheel, automatic air-conditioning, carpet floor mats, and heated cushions for both seats.
What Is the Life Expectancy of a FIAT?
Although Fiats look sporty and adventurous, they’re more reliable than given credit for. Fiats can last upwards of 200,000 miles with diligent maintenance. One of the best qualities of a Fiat is above-average gas mileage. With the Fiat 124 Spider’s light curb weight and humble engine, it’s one of the most fuel-efficient gas sports cars in the market.
