In the 1970s, Jeep marketed a new series of pickup trucks, dropping the gladiator name. These new and improved trucks were named the J10, J20, and J30 depending on the overall length of the model. The Jeep J20 was standard as a 131-inch pickup truck with enhancements in its disc brakes, six-stud wheels, a new front axle, and heavier-frame cross members.

The J20 was marketed until the 1988 model year. The 1988 Jeep J20 was powered by a 144-hp, 5.9-liter V8 engine. Four-wheel drive was standard for the J20. Models with a gross-vehicle weight of 8,400 pounds were claimed to be able to tow as much as 10,000 pounds as long as the tongue weight does not exceed 1,200 pounds.

For models produced in the mid-1980s onward, the Jeep J20 came with about 9 inches of ground clearance, making it terrific for overlanding. Being configured in four-wheel drive, you can use the J20 to conquer any terrain. Since the J20 is an old Jeep pickup truck, make sure to equip it with all-terrain tires and if applicable, wheel covers to protect the brakes.
